Dr. Schuler's primary approach to psychotherapy
is cognitive-behavioral.
Many of our emotions are affected by what we
think or tell ourselves about what is going on. We examine those “automatic
thoughts,” what leads to them and what the results are. We also
look at the behaviors that are troublesome and explore ways to modify
them.
Developmental histories are important; we might
look at them but we can’t change history. However, we may be able
to change the ways that our histories affect us now.
